About Jennifer

Jennifer trained in the Anat Baniel Method NeuroMovement from 2014 – 2018.  She completed basic training in 2015 and went on to complete the Children’s Mastery in 2016.  Committed to enhancing her skills for the clients she serves, she will be completing two additional mastery trainings in 2018 (Vitality and Anti Aging; High Performers).

Jennifer works with adults and children from her wheelchair accessible, home-based studio.  She also teaches transformational movement lessons (verbally guided movement lessons) to groups of adults in locations throughout the city and facilitates workshops on the method.

Jennifer left a career in Oil and Gas Pipelines to raise her son.  Her journey with ABM NeuroMovement started when her son was diagnosed with a rare genetic neuromuscular condition (Spinal Muscular Atrophy).  Jennifer and her husband’s relentless search to maintain their son’s strength kept turning up the Anat Baniel Method website.  With no treatment and no cure, they felt there was nothing to lose by trying ABM NeuroMovement.  They were surprised at the method (very gentle, slow and barely perceptible movements) and the results (better head control, weight bearing through the arms and more controlled movements).  After years of lessons with various practitioners in Canada and the US, Jennifer decided to take the training to be able to help her son.

“During the training, I realized how much this work can help me with my everyday caregiving tasks of lifting, transfers, and moving equipment from house to vehicles.  The pain I was feeling in my lower back and shoulders disappeared as I learned how to move with ease, in a more organized manner.

In my work with adults and children, I am always amazed at the learning power of the brain.  It can be an emotional experience for a person to learn and feel a movement that perhaps they have never achieved or haven’t been able to execute in a long time.”
